🎤 Guest Speaker, Susan Hartley

Rotary Peace Scholar Susan Hartley (Prince Edward Island, Canada) presented her book Global Voices for Peace, highlighting global peace building efforts, food security, and collaboration among peace builders and Rotarians worldwide.

👋 Guest & Membership

We welcomed guest and prospective member Makhdoom Bhatti, a remote school principal based in Alice Springs, leading a small community school of 18 students. Makhdoom was also an original member of our club in 2014.

 

🎉 Anniversary & Media Recognition

Preparations continue for our 10-Year Anniversary on 22 February at Wangaratta Turf Club (48 confirmed attendees). The club has also been selected to participate in a Rotary International social media campaign.

 

🌏 Project Updates

Zimbabwe Project: Jeanette introduced Fortune Thembo (Roger Federer Foundation).

PNG SHARE Project: Container preparation at the Share Shed on Valentine’s Day.

Rice for Cambodia: Strong promotional results and support for a child requiring cleft palate surgery.

Cambodia Clean Water & Toilet Project: Ongoing, supported by the Reece Foundation.

 

📅 Upcoming Events

District Conference to be held in Coburg, March 21–22.

 

PNG Project Update, Goroka, Papua New Guinea

A container is now prepared for transport to Goroka, Papua New Guinea, hosted by the Rotary E-Club of Change Makers.
Thank you to the Rotary Club of Bright for their generous $5,000 donation, enabling its purchase. The container will be gifted to the Rotary Club of Goroka, who may sell it to fund future joint medical and education outreach projects as our partnership develops.
