Change Maker Francis Acquah has recently toured the Caribbean and has spent some time visiting the Island of St Kitts and Nevis. This is his report after attending a meeting of the Rotary Club of St Kitts.
On Thursday 22nd January 2026 I joined the Rotary Club of St Kitts, on the Caribbean Island of St Kitts & Nevis for a face to face meeting at the Royal St Kitts Hotel.
It was a vibrant Rotary Business meeting which I enjoyed immensely. Members of the Rotary Club of St Kitts had travelled the previous weekend for a Fellowship on the Island Nevis by boat. Planned activities include BYO Panic by the Members of the Club.
The Club has 38 youngish members and there 25 members present at the meeting. Six prospective members and hoping to have them inducted during the DG visit to the Island of St Kitts next month.
The Rotary Club of St Kitts had very impressive preparation plans for the DG visit to the Rotary Club of St Kitts. DG for District 7030, Ms Sonya Warner-Gustave is from St Lucia and takes care of 17 Counties & Territories in the Southern Caribbean. The DG and team will visit St Kitts for 3/4 days including meeting the Governor-General of St Kitts and Nevis, Her Excellency Dame Marcella Liburd, GCMG JP and the Prime Minister, Hon Terrance Drew. Other activities include interaction with the youth the Interacts and inspecting services projects on the Island. The visit will include a dinner at the Government House.
President Alicia Whyte was awarded PHF+1 for Personal contribution of $2000.00 to Rotary Foundation. There was also a celebration of Perfect Attendance Awareness (full month attendance) and members were presented with certificates by President Alicia.
The club discussed fundraising projects including a Corporate Sponsored Dinner, Car raffle and Pork & Beer Fest. A Mark a wish for the elderly on Valentines day offering a small token of gesture such as massage therapy.
Finally, Rotary fines were still in practice and members who were last for the meeting paid their fines.
The meeting concluded with The National Anthem of St Kitts and Nevis.
Always an opportunity to learn from other clubs around the globe.
