It has been another interesting and challenging few months for Cambodia Clean Water and Toilet Project.

April 2026
A highlight of April was a visit by students from Kinross Wolaroi School (Orange, NSW). They were on a school trip to Vietnam and Cambodia. They spent two days with CCWTP in a rural village near Siem Reap, rubbing shoulders with families and being exposed to life for struggling rural families. They ‘dug in’ concrete tanks, laid concrete foundations and began the brickwork that became a washroom toilet for that family.
The students also funded the installation of the 5 Washroom Toilets.
May 2026
DURING May CCW&TP built a school toilet that was funded by the Swiss Scintillae Foundation.
“Toilet Loss” is a term that UNICEF and WHO have used to describe the failure of hygiene and maintenance in school toilets. Often resulting in having girls avoid using school toilets.
We have ‘taken that in board’ in our team’s recent construction of this school toilet in Trapeang Svay Village, in Siem Reap District.
The design included a proper septic tank system of tanks, a grey water drainage system to facilitate easier cleaning, a maintenance cupboard for easy access to supplies and cleaning materials, and an accessible water tap with hose. A formal agreement was made with the school community to accept responsibility for daily cleaning and ongoing provision of soap.
June 2026
IN JUNE, we conducted village workshops on the Dangers of Burning Plastics. Ratana, our operations manager, was the main speaker, supported by the Commune Chief and Deputy District Governor. This workshop initiative was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Chadstone East Malvern.
Burning plastics at home is where the damage is done. It has become a habit that must be changed. Education about these dangers is essential. These workshops support and reinforce the education we are also providing with every washroom toilet installation.
