🚀 Meeting Highlights

Our latest meeting was another energetic evening of connection, welcoming new and prospective members from across Australia and internationally. Members shared their backgrounds, passions, and the many different ways they are contributing to Rotary projects and community impact.

President Susan Benedyka thanked everyone involved in a busy and successful week of fundraising and hands-on volunteering, including recent events in Beechworth Vic and Wangaratta Vic and the latest SHARE working bee.

💛 Fundraising & Club Success

The club celebrated strong fundraising results, with recent events raising more than $2,000 to support ongoing humanitarian initiatives.

Excitement also surrounded the announcement of a successful $10,000 grant from the Rotary Club of Balwyn for the Rice for Cambodia project, an important boost for the club’s international service work.

The meeting also reflected the club’s continued growth, with more than 30 new and prospective members joining the session, including guests from remote communities and overseas.

🌏 Projects Creating Impact

Members received updates on several major projects currently underway, including:

• Teacher in a Box - continuing work in Papua New Guinea 

• SHARE (Serving Humanity and Repurposing Equipment) - with three shipping containers now prepared for international distribution

• Rice for Cambodia

• Safe Haven Cambodia

The updates highlighted the incredible reach of the club’s projects, supporting communities through education, healthcare, equipment repurposing, and humanitarian aid.

📅 Looking Ahead

Planning is well underway for upcoming activities including the Epic Day of Service and future working bees connected to the developing Peace Arboretum project.

Members also shared inspiring personal stories and professional experiences across areas including mental health, nursing, education, and international humanitarian work, reinforcing the diverse skills and passion that continue to drive the club forward.

🎉 $10,000 Grant Success for Cambodia Project

The Rotary e-Club of Change Makers is thrilled to announce that our Rice for Cambodia project has been awarded a $10,000 Rotary Club of Balwyn Centenary Grant.

Delivered in partnership with Rice for Cambodia, the funding will support practical infrastructure upgrades in rural Cambodian communities, including:

• Tiling works at Peak Sneng Health Centre
• Flood-resilient paving at Svay Chek Health Centre
• New playground equipment for Sandan Primary School

The project will directly benefit more than 20,000 community members and 560 children, improving health, hygiene, accessibility, and child wellbeing.

This exciting outcome recognises the strength of collaboration between the Rotary e-Club of Change Makers and Rice for Cambodia, and the real impact these projects create in disadvantaged communities.

📦 Global Teamwork in Action

After a huge day of effort, our medical container for Uganda is now packed and ready to go.

A special thank you to Vincent (PNG) and Ajay (Nepal), whose teamwork and dedication helped make the day possible, alongside volunteers from Rotary Change Makers and Southern Mitchell.
